Animal Husbandry

Welcome to our animal care section! Here, we will cover the essential care instructions for each animal we raise. While most of our animals are easy keepers, there are times when they may need a little extra help, especially during their early stages of life or in challenging weather conditions. Let's dive into the specific of our beloved animals!

Chicks

Caring for chicks is essential for their healthy growth. Provide them with a warm, draft-free environment, ideally around 90-95°F for the first week, gradually drop the temperature 5°F every week. We also reccomend electrolyes when they first arrive home to help with any travel stress. Make sure they have access to fresh water and quality chick starter feed. Additionally, ensure they have space to move around and a safe, clean area to live in. Remember to observe their behavior; if they huddle together, it may be too cold, while if they spread out, they might be too warm.

Ducklings

To ensure your ducklings thrive, provide them with a warm, dry environment that's free from drafts. Upon first arriving at home, we recommend ducklings receive electrolytes to help with any stress from traveling. Feed them a balanced diet of starter feed specifically formulated for ducklings, we used Kalmbach duck and goose and blend the pellets up for our ducklings. It is important to make sure they have access to fresh water at all times, without water ducklings can choke on feed. Regularly clean their living area to prevent illness and monitor growth and behavior for any signs of distress. With proper care, your ducklings will grow into healthy, happy adults!

Goslings

Goslings require proper care to thrive. Once home we reccomend electrolytes to help with any travel stress. Ensure they have a warm, dry shelter with plenty of space to move around. Provide clean water and high-quality starter feed specifically designed for waterfowl, we use Kalmbach duck and goose and blend the pellets up. Maintain a comfortable temperature, gradually reducing warmth as they grow, and always supervise them during outdoor time to keep them safe from predators.

Rabbit Kits

Caring for rabbit kits requires attention and dedication. Ensure they have a warm environment to grow in, away from drafts and direct sunlight. Provide a high-quality diet consisting of hay, fresh vegetables and a small amount of pellets. Rabbits are highly intelligent so make sure to provide them with stimulating activities to make sure they don't get bored. Regularly check their health, keeping an eye out for any signs of illness, and consult a veterinarian if needed.

Goat Kids

Goat kids require special attention to ensure they grow healthy and strong. Be sure to provide them with a clean and dry living environment, as well as access to fresh water at all times. It's essential to feed them a balanced diet that includes high-quality milk or milk replacer, along with appropriate starter grain and hay. Regular check-ups and vaccinations will help keep them healthy and prevent diseases.
